Thursday Band Promo Photo

Thursday’s 5th studio album, “Common Existence”, has nailed setting a tone of urgency, and excitement almost down to a science. Everything about this record resonates exponential growth. Their years of touring and countless influences has culminated into what I dare say is the group’s finest effort to date.

WK radio

In my opinion, having something like a blog, podcast, or twitter for any company is a great way to give some insight on who you are and what you do on both business, and social levels. If you’ve ever read my posts in the past about W+K, you already know that I’m a huge fan of their work. Between Jason and I, we pretty much read all the blogs by the various offices of W+K around the world. Each blog has it’s own flavor and charm that lends to being able to have glimpses into the lives of the incredible creative individuals there.

Goodby, Silverstein & Partners – Stick it to McCain

Goodby, Silverstein & Partners resides virtually in my back yard and I’ve been meaning to write about them for a bit now. As one of the top independent ad shops in the country, they are responsible for excellent work they produce for clients such as Adobe, Comcast, and Hyundai. The two principles, Jeff Goodby and Rich Silverstein, personally funded a series of ads scrutinizing the McCain/Palin camp and put them on YouTube. One word ladies and gentleman- brilliant! I’m not a political scientist, I’m just a young guy living in one messed up time.  Most of the creative world has rallied against the insanity that is the McCain campaign and everything it stands for. This is hopefully another nail in the coffin for McCain/Palin run.

Hey Champ – Cold Dust Girl

Chicago has the fever! Every time I turn around something else delectable comes out of the Windy City. I could use words like airy, atmospheric and sultry to describe the smooth tunes from electro pop artists Hey Champ. I caught wind of them while sifting through my bulletins on Myspace (Tom please make this thing suck less okthnxbye!). Hey Champ cites influences like “Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego”, 80’s cartoons, and art history for their infectious tracks. Cold Dust Girl is no exception and the video’s use of slow motion is well executed.

Update: As of October 15th Hey Champ has just signed with 1st & 15th

Chocolate Industries vs The Retrospective

mike and chuck of the cool kids

Wow no updates suck right?  Rejoice! The dry spell is over and here is the first long overdue post. We’ve been fortunate to have our paths cross with a few of the very talented artists on Chocolate Industries straight out of Chicago. Back in September, Alicia and I ventured down to the heart of Boston’s college territory to Northeastern where The Cool Kids killed it. They put on such an electric live show and seriously pissed off security. I moreso felt like I was at a punk rock show then a hip hop show. Besides playing my favorite track, “What It Is”, Mikey and Chuck hung out with us for a bit after the show. Mikey schooled all who came before him at Super Smash Bros and the beatings were merciless. We’re working on  getting an interview with these guys as their newest record, “Bake Sale” has been praised by critics and fans alike.
