RetroTalk | Thursday “..it’s not about fads and fashion phases”

February 26th, 2009 by

Notorious for putting their hearts and emotions on display for the world to interpret, Thursday hides very little from their audience. Over the years, Thursday has gained thousands of admirers, millions have watched them come into their own, and most importantly (to us, anyway) they’ve become our friends.

I had the distinct pleasure of watching this six-piece outfit from New Jersey kick off their Taste of Chaos Tour  and debut their well-received fifth studio album, “Common Existence.” Seeing them perform still gives me chills, and brings me right back to a special time and place in my life only they can.  Included in this exclusive video are photos of Thursday’s recent show in San Jose as well as Edward Gaug’s phone interview with drummer, Tucker Rule.

Love the post. Reminds me why I’ve seen them eight times. I’m really thinking I’d love to check ’em out when they come back to the east coast.

I like how Tucker said he thinks the new album combines aspects of all the previous ones, I especially liked how he mentioned ‘Waiting’. I can’t judge that for myself seeing as how I haven’t really given the new album much of a chance, I’ve only listened to it a few times and nothing really stuck out at my too much (except ‘As He Climbed The Dark Mountain’, which I had previously heard on the Thursday/Envy split, and I like the older version better) but I definitely did like what I heard. I’ll have to listen to it some more. I can’t wait to seem Thursday and Bring Me The Horizon at Taste of Chaos in Philly.

Every CD Thursday has put out has influenced me and my band with all their different sounds they have made from album to album. From thier LYRICS to MUSIC it makes them who they are and noone will ever take that from them in my book. Thank you so much Thursday and I cant wait to see you in kansas city!
