The end of the world is coming – Like for real

I once took a few weeks of a quantum mechanics class because since I was a kid I was pretty much fascinated with the concept of time travel. Too this day I retain no knowledge of the subject or that class (830 in the morning wasn’t gonna happen). I’d been reading around the web of a doomsday device being built and being set to active called a “Hadron Collider”. Here’s what wiki had to say…

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is a particle accelerator complex intended to collide opposing beams of 7 TeV protons. Its main purpose is to explore the validity and limitations of the Standard Model, the current theoretical picture for particle physics. This model is known to break down at a certain high energy level. The LHC is being built by the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), and lies under the Franco-Swiss border near Geneva, Switzerland. The LHC will become the world’s largest and highest-energy particle accelerator.[1] It is funded and built in collaboration with over two thousand physicists from thirty-four countries as well as hundreds of universities and laboratories.

So what does all that mean to you? It means DOOMSDAY! Apparently no one knows what the hell this thing is going to do when it’s turned on. Will it mean the end of the world? Will pigs start to fly? Will it spell the end of the hipster/dj set phenomenon?! Petitions from people who live near the collider have fallen on deaf ears as the mad scientist device is set to be launched sometime in September . All I know the day the turn this thing on I’m gonna be in my bunker, with my lady, and a shotgun. Zombies, come and get me!

Pop Music Will Never Be Low Brow

Lately, it seems like more and more artists are going above and beyond when it comes to making music videos, and personally I really can’t complain.  When I first heard “Just Dance” by Lady Gaga, I wasn’t overly impressed by the electro/pop star in the making, but over the past week or so, her sound has grown on me.  Then I saw her mini movie/music video called “The Fame”,which is basically a mash-up of several songs off her debut album that shares the same title.  I feel like Lady Gaga’s mini movie is comparative to  Justice’s “Stress” video, except with way more estrogen.  Her album drops October 7th.

Cuil – New search engine not so cool

August 3rd, 2008 by

Earlier this week Cuil, a new startup search engine run by ex-Google engineers, went live. Now before we really get into this remember that Google is the king when it comes to the search industry. They’ve taken out names like Altavista, Lycos, MSN, Yahoo and a score of others. Trying to compete with Google is an uphill battle and there’s a large probability that you may never even make out of the front gates. FYI- Cuil is pronounced “Cool” (don’t misspell it as “Culi” because you will get a NSFW surprise) crashed within the first few seconds of going live. Cuil boasts a large search index (amount of web pages it scours) than it’s competitor Google and the layout and results are pretty nifty, but they are far beyond the comprehensive and efficient search results of Google. Half of the time it doesn’t even bring up relevant or correct information. They were even touted as a Google killer yet, in my opinion, they barely make a roar.

Dior Homme 2009 Spring/Summer Collection

The new Dior Homme 2009 spring/summer line has a really fun 80’s look without seeming too loud or outlandish. There’s only one small problem, its tailored to fit guys who apparently have the bodies of 12 year old boys, are under some kind of hypnotic mind control and may have missed a few meals (give or take) during the week. Sporting a casual metro chic look , everything is accented by thin lines, subtle colors and a new trend in well placed men’s accessories (sunglasses, belts, bracelets, mocs, sneakers etc). The show not only showcases high fashion but a mix exclusive for the show by the notorious French duo Justice.

vegas blvd

Thursday night found Jason,  me and a gaggle of friends at Vegas BLVD in Hartford. My love of booty shaking beats can only be quenched there mainly because resident DJ Jefferey Perez spins (electro, disco, house, b-more) and from time to time I’ve dropped in. This Thursday people were exposed to the beginnings of Panther (Jason and I). Note: We shoot pictures of us and others having fun while were out. If we ask to shoot you it’s so that we can get your permission to use it here. If you say no, no big woop. If you say yes DO NOT TURN THIS INTO A PHOTO SHOOT! We don’t care if you don’t look good we will be the judge of that. With that said, onto some photos
