Sometimes you just get so busy you forget that there’s a lot of cool stuff in your backyard (bear with me). I think I’ve already mentioned that I’m not a morning person and today is no exception. I had an 8:30am class that requires me to be out the door by 7:30am in order to be there on time. By the transitive property means I’ve got to be up by 7 at the latest which all in all takes an act of God. I’m lucky that it’s a class that I enjoy so getting up isn’t THAT bad.
After class I had about 4 hours of free time before heading to work so I decided that I would take a stroll down Haight St. There is so much activity on this street; from great food to interesting characters to wonderful boutiques. I was reading a post on Porsche Taylor‘s blog and she hipped me that Kid Robot was having a very mouth watering sale on toys and apparel.
So once getting lost on the “N” Muni I headed to Kid Robot. On the way I got sidetracked and stopped at Haight Ashbury Music Center. I haven’t stepped into a music store in ages. This little place reminded me a lot of an old music store I used to work at in CT and the staff are pretty friendly laid back guys. They have a pretty robust collection of gear; they had a 1972 Fender Telecaster Deluxe that caught my eye ( unfortunately art school and 700 dollar guitars do not match so I settled for the eye candy). I might head back sometime later for that bad boy.
A couple of stores up the street is Kid Robot. I’m relatively new to the vinyl toy hustle but Kid Robots been around for quite sometime. My friend Paul first introduced me to Dunny when we were both working on the original concept of this site. I picked up the new French series Dunny which feels like the start of a growing obsession for these little guys.
On my way back downtown I passed by Villains Vault which is now my premier destination for designer goods. They carry brands like Cassette and Diesel among their vast collection. Rebecca was super knowledgeable on all the brands they carry and has a great eye for complete looks. They are a MUST stop if boutique fashion and designer lifestyle is your bag. The decor and music fit this place perfectly from Andy Warhol-esq paintings up to Peter Bjorn and John pumping through the speakers.
I’m hoping to have more of these small outing posts for you guys to experience what’s out here in the bay.

definitely going here next time i’m in sf. that wall pop-art is killer
I was checking out the Kid Robot sale online the other day and was thinking to myself “I need to get on this.” Unfortunately, I didn’t order anything. Although, I advise you to pick up some Critter Splitters because they’re only $1. Awesome.
