When describing this next group I have the tendency to call them the “Norwegian Black Eyed Peas”. It’s not because Donkeyboy is known for infectious dance tracks with hip-hop flair, but because, like BEP, the band has seriously dominated the charts this year in their native country. Donkeyboy released its debut single, Ambitions, this summer and it clung to the #1 spot on the Norwegian charts for a record 12 weeks, only to be usurped by the band’s sophomore single Sometimes. Clearly, to say that they are popular in their homeland would be a gross understatement.

Led by brothers Kent and Cato Sundberg, Donkeyboy is a quintet from the city of Drammen. The band formed back in 2005 and released its first album, Caught In A Life, in 2009. The group uses classic 80’s keyboards and bass reminiscent of Michael Jackson and Hall and Oates which has done them nothing but well, especially considering that nostalgia is now oh-so-fashionable. The five guys are also occasionally accompanied by the delightful vocals of singer Linnea Dale.
Things seem to be going splendidly as Donkeyboy has just completed a UK tour with fellow Norwegian artists, a-ha (the guys who sang the 1985 hit “Take On Me”) and are looking to expand their notoriety beyond their Nordic nation. The dudes of Donkeyboy are currently busy preparing to shoot their second music video.
