My Girl Friday – VV Brown

February 12th, 2009 by

25 year old Vanessa “V V” Brown hails from Northampton, England and derives her inspiration from soul legends such as Aretha Franklin and Ella Fitzgerald. She turned down admission to Oxford and Cambridge while in high school to focus full time on her music career.

Already an established songwriter, she’s penned tunes for British girl group The Sugababes and The Pussycat Dolls. She’s gotten a lot of buzz from the press in her native UK for her eclectic sound that mixes 60’s pop with contemporary indie rock. V V will be dropping her album, “Traveling Like The Light” this May, the same month she’ll be appearing in the pages of Vogue.
