Alphanumeric Gets Literal

July 9th, 2008 by

Alphanumeric’s “Gassed” tee blatantly depicts what the majority of us are experiencing while filling up at the local gas pump. I think that it’s always great to see art and design reflect the economic state of the government, even if it does mean that everyone is probably going broke. The shirt will be available as of August 1, or you can pre-order yours now at Robust Flavor for $26(or about 6 gallons of gas).

I dig the concept but really is a t-shirt going to change anything? Design in its self does not change a thing. If anything isn’t it a false sense of actually doing something, in this sense. Also the noose is that really necessary? Is that for shock value? This is my growing annoyance with “street wear”, a whole lot of appropriating and not much meaning.

Sick design but I’d take the 6 gallons over it.
