Nylon that oh-so-hip magazine for the discerning, fashion-forward teen girls, and sometimes guys, decided to tour this summer with a rag-tag team of artists. The stop in Boston featured The Switches, The Virgins, Be Your Own Pet and headliner She Wants Revenge.
The Paradise Rock club set the stage for a whack collective of fans. I didn’t catch The Switches and The Virgines because I’ve had my fill of the flavor of the week British “the” band. Be Your Own Pet was phenomenal, however I wish there’d been more of a sweaty, rowdy, chanting punk rock crowd. They put a show that was so fun, you might wanna smack yo mamma.
She Wants Revenge had a great debut record a few years back that got the industry buzzing and comparing them to Interpol. They were also compared to other bands who heavily used The Cure and Joy Division as source material. Their live set is groovy and dance-filled with enough awkward moves to make you question your own sexuality (Seriously, the lead singer-entername here-has these moments where he looses it dancing in the corner of the stage facing a speaker). They are touring a lot with their new record which hasn’t had the same connection as their debut. The tour continues for a few more weeks if you’re looking for something to do -go out and catch it!
